Let’s focus on “bedtime routines”. It can be tempting to curl up in bed early when it’s cold and dark outside. Especially after the clocks go back and the days get shorter, and the temperatures go down. It’s easy to retreat to bed early or stay there longer, but not only is this habit not beneficial to sleep, it can even negatively impact your sleep quality. Bedtime routines are best spent outside of bed! When you engage in activities like reading, watching TV, or checking your phone while in bed you can confuse the brain about whether to associate the bed with sleep or wakefulness. To help train your brain and body to connect with sleep, avoid these activities in bed. And when the alarm goes off, it’s crucial to get out of bed – don’t hit snooze! #BeWell
